I signed up for a Class Pass Free Trial and got to try five different fitness classes for free!

The third fitness class I took during my Class Pass free trial was a an F45 class. I have always found F45 classes intimidating but I did wanted try it out at least once. Class Pass comes with a brief description of each class, but I felt I needed to watch Youtube videos of each one to gauge if it was a workout I could keep up with. This ended up being a really fun class!

F45 Etobicoke Central gym

F45 gyms run one class type for the entirety of the day and each day is a different one. The schedule varies per location. I attended the Liberty class at the Etobicoke Central location. This class was a strength and resistance circuit and was coached by Matt and Victor. The two of them were great and I hope all locations have similar coaches. Being new to the class, they thoroughly explained the circuit and at the start if the class demonstrated what each station would require us to do. Throughout the class they worked with us on making sure our form was good and we had the right weights.

You guessed correctly. The 45 in F45 does mean the classes take 45 minutes. The way this F45 class worked was they set up 9 stations with different workouts where you do each station for 2 sets. You then move onto the next station. Between every set you get a short rest time. Once you complete all stations once, you have a hydration break and do it all over again a second time. There is a recommended tempo but you are free to do it at your own pace. The sets and rest time are all counted down by a counter on monitors in the front of the gym.

Station set up with monitors

This class seemed to focus on upper and lower body exercises. Some exercises included: side raises, deadlifts, chest presses, tricep extensions, hip thrusts, lunges, and bicep curls. The first round most of the exercises were pretty manageable but by the second round I was starting to struggle to get the reps in. Matt and Victor were really loud and made sure to hype you up throughout the workout and get you through each set.

The upbeat music and timer also keeps you motivated throughout the whole work out. Being able to see the countdown timer really helps you push through. By the end of it we were really sweaty and definitely needed the towel they provided for us.

Ratings:

Enjoyment - 10/10

The class was really fun and felt like a game to complete. Matt and Victor really help you feel like you’re going strong and can make it to the end of eat set. The overall set up of the class was well done and was easy to understand and follow. You definitely feel yourself working your muscles. The next day I was quite sore. The music and overall vibes of the class was very fun and enjoyable. I would love to attend another class in the future.

Difficulty/Intensity - 8/10

This is another higher intensity class where you quickly change from one exercise to another. The second time around is much tougher to get through than the first but you just have to push yourself a bit. There are various weights around so if you can adjust the weights you’re using. As you try your best to keep up with the tempo you really break a sweat. We ended this class very sweaty, but satisfied.

Facilities - 9/10

I believe all F45 locations are similar. It is just one large workout room with screens situated in the front to see the demonstrated moves and counter. All the equipment needed for the workout is already placed out and ready for your class. We each got a towel to use throughout the workout. Even though its only one room they spaced it out well between stations and I found it to be clean as well.

Location - varies by location

I like locations with parking, which this one did have! There are many F45 locations across the city.
