Lavender Farm | Kelso Lavender

We took our moms to a lavender farm! Kelso Lavender is a lavender farm only a 40min drive away from Toronto. Located at 8649 Appleby Line, Campbellville, ON L0P 1B0.

My mom had been asking since the beginning of the year if I could take her to a lavender farm this year. Lavender season is in July to early August so I did some researching and found Kelso Lavender.

Our moms in the lavender fields

We purchased admission tickets online before coming ~$18. The price varies with the day of the week and are cheaper online than at the gate. Admission tickets for the lavender farm only includes entry, unlike the tulip farm we went to earlier this year. But you can pay an extra fee to pick your own bouquet, or purchase some lavender products from their market.

The main purpose of our visit was not only to enjoy the view and smell of lavender, but of course to take some pictures with the purple scenery. Kelso Lavender had an abundant of photo ops placed throughout their fields. This included frames, a piano, a carriage, and a variety of different chairs. There were many opportunities for great pictures and our mothers really enjoyed it.

We got to the farm around 10am on a Sunday and at this time there were already a few groups there. There is a 2 hour time limit recommended by the staff, but we only spent a little over an hour in the fields. I do recommend coming earlier for clearer fields free of people as many more people come in as the day progressed. You may find yourself in little lines waiting to take pictures with certain props.

The farm itself is quite large and spacious. They grow different types of lavender and mGrk them with little signs. I didn’t know that some come white in colour! There is space between the rows of lavender to walk through but it is difficult to go from one row to another without walking the whole length of the that section. For those who need more space to walk, there are larger gaps between lavender sections for people to get around the fields.

There is a lavender market in a booth just at the entrance. Here you can buy bouquets of lavender and other products infused with lavender. The one thing we really wanted to try was the lavender ice cream!

The lavender ice cream comes in cups with a little spoon. There was strong lavender scent to it but nothing overbearing. Personally we found the ice cream to be really sweet and extra creamy. If that’s how you like your ice cream we do recommend trying it!

BEE WARNING!

If you’re scared of bees you may have some trouble standing in the fields. There were soooo many bees around the lavender. They don’t seem to pay much attention to you but if you are uncomfortable being around them you will have to gather your bravery for this experience.
